Summer Youth Conservatory
Sixteen Years Strong

Summer Youth Conservatory is dedicated to the development of life skills through participation in the arts - helping kids reach a new stage! In addition to classes, this program offers the opportunity for all participants to appear on stage in a production at the end of each session. This is also a valuable opportunity to be seen on stage by Arts Center directors. Students will audition for roles in performances.

Conservatory Staff:
Donald Fann - Conservatory Director, Acting
A Cannon County native who has served as Executive Director at the Arts Center of Cannon County since 1995, when he founded the Summer Youth Conservatory Program that has become a model in the Mid-State. With over 20 years of teaching experience, he holds a B.F.A. in Theater from the University of Memphis and has received training as a Teaching Artist from The Lincoln Center Institute and the Wolftrap Institute, Foxfire Teacher Training Program, as well as The Tennessee Arts Commission's Peer Advisory Network. His extensive theatrical backgraound includes over 150 credits for directing, design, and performance from across the state. Donald currently lives on his family farm outside of Woodbury with his wife, Cortilla and his three daughters, Chloe, Hattie and Corinne.
Allison Barnett: Music and Voice
MTSU
Allison was the Director of Honk and music directed High School Musical II and will be on the Arts Center stage this summer as Tracy Turnblad in Hairspray.
Chelsea Toombs: Acting
Middle Tennessee Christian School Theatre Director
Currently Directing Frindle, and Arts Center patrons will recognize her from The Secret Garden and Peter Pan.
Kathryn Turney: Creative Movement, Dance
MTSU
Having grown up in the Arts Center's Summer Youth Conservatory, Kathryn has also been on stage in many productions and directed School House Rock. Kathryn is a member of Shelter Repertory Dance Theatre and teaches dance at Cannon Arts Studio.
Junior Conservatory - Students entering grades 1st through 6th
Session One:
June 4-15, 2012 with performance on Sat., June 16, 2012 at 2:00
$175 ($25 discount if paid before May 1st)
Session Two:
June June 18-29 with performance on Fri., June 29 at 7:30
$175 ($25 discount if paid before May 1st)
Senior Conservatory - Students entering grades 7th - 12th
July 9-27 with performance on July 27 at 7:30
$225($25 discount if paid before June 1st)

Junior Conservatory begins a 9:00AM and ends at 3:00PM daily. Senior Conservatory begins at 9:00AM and ends at 5:00PM. All students atending must bring a sack lunch. Concessions will be available at lunch time and during the afternoon break. You will receive a medical release form in the mail. Your child will be enroled when tuition is paid and we have received the medical release form for your child.
