At The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, six young people overseen by grown-ups who barely managed to escape childhood themselves, struggle to find their place in the world in this hilarious musical comedy. Despite lofty parental expectations, six-syllable words, and the pangs of puberty, these six kids with a worship of words discover how to spell S-U-C-C-E-S-S as they learn that winning isn't everything and that losing doesn't necessarily make you a loser. Some of the lucky audience members will be chosen to compete on-stage, spelling “taradiddle,” “slobberknocker,” or even “poppysmic.” themselves.

Directed by Robert Hiers, this show features Arts Center favorites, David Winton, Mike Reed, Michael McGee, Laurie Burger and Matthew Hunter. Rounding out this talented cast are Tricia Hiers, Marisa Davila, Diane Bearden-Enright, and Josh Issac.

“Holiday dinner theatre shows have become annual events for many area businesses and organizations,” states Donald Fann, executive director of the Arts Center. “The number of available dates is limited and they run out quickly so we urge our patrons to make reservations early for good selection of dates and tables.” Performance dates are Dec. 7, 8, 9, 14, 15, 16, 21, & 22.  Tickets are $28 per person and include dinner, drink, dessert and the show. The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is sponsored by Smith Funeral Home.  Performances: For Friday and Saturday performances, dinner starts at 6:30PM with the show beginning at 7:30pm. For Sunday performances, dinner starts at 1:00PM and the show begins at 2:00PM
